The Institute for Far Eastern Studies, Kyungnam University (Director Lee Kwan-Sei) held a meeting with Li Kaisheng (Vice President of the Shanghai Institute of International Studies, China) and a delegation from the Institute, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, at the Peace Hall.

The meeting was attended by Li Kaisheng (Vice President), Cai Liang (Senior Research Fellow), Gong Keyu, Chen Youjun (Director), and Li Ning (Research Fellow), Zhou Shengsheng (Associate Researcher), Lee Kwan-Sei (Director of IFES), and Lee Sang-Man (Director of the Center for Chinese Studies at IFES)

During the meeting, Director Lee raised issues such as the changing international situation due to the ongoing US-China rivalry, expectations of China's role in the new security challenges facing South Korea, and the need to expand exchanges among the MZ generation, including academic information and cultural exchanges, while Li Kaisheng emphasized the need for global cooperation to find mutual benefits in China-ROK relations, analysis of recent trends in North Korea, and the role of South Korea in the future generations of China-ROK cooperation.

As think tanks, the two organizations have also had extensive discussions on the denuclearization of North Korea and peace on the Korean Peninsula.
