This book analyzes how the political system of North Korea have changed during the Kim Jong Un era (2013-2015) and differed from that of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il eras. This book is divided into four parts. The first section focuses on the nature and characteristics of the political system of the Kim Jong Un era. The second part then looks at how the situation in North Korea has changed from 2016 to 2019. It also analyzed the situations of inter-Korean relations and the Korean Peninsula, especially in relation to the process of establishing and consolidating the Kim Jong Un regime. The third section provides analysis on inter-Korean relations in relevance to the inter-Korean summit, a key turning point in changing the situation on the Korean Peninsula. In the last section, it outlines the key and current issues in the Korean Peninsula, including the development of inter-Korean relations and the North Korean nuclear issue. In particular, it provides implications and examines lessons from past negotiations on North Korea's nuclear program, which will serve as a useful reference in the future denuclearization process.
We hope this book will serve as a useful tool to researchers who study North Korea and unification issues and hope that it will contribute to establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula and unification.
