Title 62nd IFES Unification Strategy Forum - The Korean Peninsula from the Perspective of Experts: Evaluations and Prospects

IFES, Kyungnam University held the 62nd IFES Unification Strategy Forum which focused on “The Korean Peninsula from an Expert’s Perspective: Evaluations and Prospects” on Thursday, December 6th in the Pyonghwa Kwan Grand Conference Room.
At the forum, reporters specializing in the North Korea and unification issues were invited to evaluate and discuss various the prospects of the current situation on the Korean Peninsula during this transformative time as South Korea, North Korea, and the United States are holding dialogue to work toward peace on the Peninsula.


Director of IFES Kwan-Sei Lee moderated this forum in which Suk Ho Shin (Head of the Digital News Team, Dong-A Ilbo) gave a presentation on “US-China Relations: An Evaluation of 2018 and Prospects for 2019,” and Kim Hyun-kyung (Managing Director of the Unification Broadcast Centre, MBC) gave a presentation on “Inter-Korean Relations: An Evaluation of 2018 and Prospects for 2019.”
Also, Jang Yong Hoon (Head of the Korean Peninsula Department, Yonhap News) gave a presentation on “Change in North Korea’s National Strategy: An Evaluation and Prospects,” Lee Jae-hoon (Senior staff writer, Hankyoreh) gave a presentation on “The Direction and Prospects of a Peace Regime on the Korean Peninsula,” and Son Taek Wang (Unification and Foreign Affairs Correspondent, YTN) gave a presentation on “The Direction and Prospects of Denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.”
Afterwards, several experts partook in a discussion session in which they exchanged their opinions.
